Brick’s is a family owned and operated supermarket at their business Route 6, East Tioga St., Tunkhannock location since 1970. The history actually goes back though to July 1957 when George and Jean Brick opened George Brick’s General Store in Lawsville, PA, a small family operated business.

In 1966 George and Jean discovered an opportunity to grow with a larger grocery store in Factoryville and moved into the College Market. Four years later, the couple would purchase their Tunkhannock location from Ernie Firestine and it became Brick’s Market Inc. Surviving the flood of ’72 with minor damage and now the Flood of 2011, Brick’s has always been a progressive business using the latest equipment and concepts, including being the first store in the county with electronic scanning. In 1989, for added customer convenience, Brick’s added the in-store bakery and hot food section.

George retired in 1997, but continues to work part-time, keeping an eye on the day to day operations while his daughter Lynn and son-in-law Paul Reynolds run the store. Presently there are three generations working side-by-side, everyday continuing the Brick’s commitment to customers and the community.

Brick’s offers what some would call old-fashioned services while keeping up with today’s customer needs. Brick’s is proud to be a smaller store, “Just Your Size” is what they say. It’s a supermarket where you are able to find exactly what you are looking for quickly—a great convenience in the hectic world that surrounds us and makes it easier for the senior citizens as well.
